Defending Super Bowl Champion New York Giants open the NFL season tonight at home against the Washington Red Skins. Everybody else opens Sunday including the Jets with their new QB Brett Favre. It should be a very good football season in the tri state area.

A win as they say is a win. The way it started it looked like a 34 or 40 point performance was in the making. 16 - 7 wasn't what I had in mind. Though I must say it kept it interesting all the way through. The line was 4 and 1/2 . Zorn plays his timeout situation a little better there down at the end and the Skins push over that last gasp t.d. the defending champs win but they don't cover.

It'll be interesting how Favre (F_orgot A_bout V_oicing R_etirement E_xitment) does with the New Jersey Jets.  That's right, the paper said they've moved their training facilities there now as well.  Bet the corporate office stays in Manhatten just to meet the minimum requirement to keep the New York title in the name.
First start is against Pennington and the Dolphins.  Let's see how he does with a team that uses passing and even offers some QB protection.
While they may still be a couple of years out of playoff contention, I say Miami finishes with a more respectable season.  Meanwhile, the Jets newest savior may end the year in a wheelchair!  They've gotten more QB's hurt and ended careers than anyone else.

Does he drive a motorcycle through deer country at night?

Just the other day I saw a "deer vs. motorcycle" accident. The rider got to take home the tenderloin for his broken leg.

Actually the jets offensive line is much improved. That was what they had worked on since the end of last season. I liked Pennington but his inability to throw the ball down field consistently allowed other teams to play eight in the box stuffing the running game and allowing the predictable passing situations to be defensed much more easily. The running backs including a kid Thomas who the scouts where particularly high on should benefit from the defenses having to protect against Brett and his shot gun arm and his tendency to pass first and ask questions later.

Tony,
The way it was explained to me once, is that as long as the team keeps it's league recognized corporate offices in New York, they can keep the New York title even though they play in Jersey.  Same goes for the Giants.

Terry,
My Deer was never found.  It had at least gotten itself back into the woods.  Fortunately, I didn't suffer any breaks of bones, just a good knock on the noggin!  Too bad the bike didn't fare as well!

Favre and the Jets started strong but wilted in the heat and barely hung on for the win  BUT .......... If Brady is out for the season and Peyton's knee doesn't come around soon it could be the Jets & Steelers battling it out for the AFL top spot .........

Every week I'll give an update on the MC Grads fantasy football league on http://www.cbssports.com. This week the class of the league was the Titans, who claim Eddie Doyle as their General Mgr. They flat kicked serious ass. Scored the most points by far. Since this league was my bright idea, I have to report that I suffered a 4 point loss to the Warriors, led by Aj Singh. I believe he scouted my team and used video tape to prepare so I will be filing a protest with the league commissioner, who happens to be me. Wonder how that will turn out??

In week two of the MC Grads Fantasy Football League, Ernie Doyle and his Titans have again proved to be the class of the league. The Titans remain in sole possession  of first place, due to their 2 wins and cumulative points scored.   I rebounded from last weeks loss with a sound thrashing of my opponent, who shall remain unidentified, out of kindness. Check on the league at http://www.cbssports.com.

Ernie Doyle and the Titans continue to dominate the MC Grads fantasy football league, with a 3-0 record and most points scored.  Six teams are showing life though with records of 2-1.

I have to question the Arizona Coach.... Whisenhut (or sopmething like that)..... what was  he doing doen 20 points with under a minute..... the poor receiver who tried to catch the pass was knocked out.... in a play that was meaningless.... and it was scary......  might not walk..... where is the common sense.....

It was helmet to helmet contact which is not allowed. Heard the player is ok and resting at home no apparant lingering effects. The hitter was fined $50,000 and suspended one game although there was no flag thrown on the field by the game officials.
