Anyone going to NYC with an ounce of culture seeks out a good Broadway play or many. If any of you come to San Francisco, you HAVE to arrange to go to see Beach Blanket Babylon. I took my rediculously Republican, Texan sister and brother in law there when we visited this weeknd and they loved it. (Is that broad appeal???) The Xmas show started last Wednesday and that is always especially incredible.
BBB has been running for 32 years and is a musical review 90 minutes long. It is one very packed 90 minutes and quality at least equal to the best off Bdwy production you have ever seen. It is quick, funny, great singers and you can not leave without being in a terrific mood.
It IS the quinessential San Francisco experience.

We'll be in SF for the Thanksgiving weekend visiting friends. I will look into your suggestion.

Thanks

Tony,
If you have problems getting tickets , try Craigslist.org. Good luck and look forward to your review...there is a very nice Irish lady who I ordered my tickets from. Tell here hello from me. I know she will remember. Tell her we loved the show!
Barry

Wait just a minute....San Francisco means Saint Francis, no?

Shouldn't we change that X Francisco?

Xmas |?krism?s; ?eksm?s| noun informal term for Christmas .
ORIGIN X representing the initial chi of Greek Khristos ‘Christ.’

But how many people know that and mean it that way. In most cases the X is intended to keep Christ out of the holiday celebrated Dec. 25th. thus making it a secular celebration of gift giving and getting, Santa and Egg Nog. (can't forget the Egg Nog). (hiccup)

Terry,

If you try to take the Christian God out of the lingo, you must figure -- hey no Christ, no Saints.

So we'll have the X Louis Cardinals.

I'm flying back through X Antonio, Texas.

It's ludicrous.

When will the Christian right demand people say Happy Xanakuh?

Sorry Barry, we didn't make it over. Our hosts had already seen the show so we decided to sit back and enjoy the fact that there was nothing we "had to do". Had a lovely Thanksgiving dinner, went up to Sonoma on Friday, wandered around Berkley on Saturday, watched the Bears blow it on Sunday and flew back on Monday.  Thanks for asking.

Beach Blanket Babylon - We went again for the fantastic Christmas show an old friend who had a rough year after cancer surgery but doing very well. This show and virtually everything about it is a wonderful experience in music, humor, dancing and creativity. It is the quintessential San Francisco experience. More than that it is one that you can not possibly leave w/o being uplifted and happier.

The Christmas show is my favorite because you have the regular review and at the end you have this wonderful medley of great Christmas carols and of course the great huge animated hats.

I give the whole experience a 5 stars out of 5!
