The new Rules of Engagement have been posted. I believe that these guidelines will make it clearer for everyone who posts on these forums. I'm open to comments if you feel the need.

What happens if a benign topic morphs into a "Hot Topic"?

It's always possible that this will happen, and I would expect that people would continue to be civil and respectful in this case.

It might be a good idea to move/continue the conversation in a new Hot Topic thread.

Very funny Will!

There's a bar not too far from work. It opened recently and has a brass sign at the doorway - Check your guns at the Door. Last week, I passed and there was police tape strung around blocking off the entrance and the whole corner. Seems someone didn't want to check their gun.

Anyway, feel free to post away.

Since the Civility & Respect thread was locked, I'll respond here. Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.          "From this day forward, I will delete any post that I consider inflammatory, abusive or incite-full without warning. I will not communicate with the poster about my decision, and when there are three strikes, the poster will be banned from posting with no notice. Yes, people may wonder why someone doesn't post anymore, and they'll just have to keep wondering."
The mighty hand strikes out that which does not please. He banishes those who do not kowtow. You can pretty much not have to wonder why I disappear, it'll be off to the gulag for me. No notification to  kith or kin.
It's typical to cite the argument that agrees with those in power to support a position. Seems to me tho, there were many other opinions given, pro and con, during that recent poll.
Y'all just take yourselves so seriously, it's a shame.

Since it's been brought up here I'll just add that after three weeks of peace and harmony, the timing of the post willie refers to seems odd to me at the very least. Although, even earlier during this quiet time, who was it who started the Wars - HOT TOPIC (that isn't) thread?

Maybe these are just some attempts on Brian's part to drum of a little interest? Otherwise, I think it a strange posting in light of the recent harmonious passivity.

Strange also locking the thread Civility and Respect Poll. It didn't seem 'inflammatory' or 'abusive' to me? {I'm Not sure what 'incite-full' means. So maybe that's the lock down offense on the thread?}

PS: webguy hasn't posted for some time. I hope all is well In Texas and that Brian hasn't banned him.

Mr Kerins - since war is a hot topic, and has garnered opinions on both side of the issue - it was appropriate to put the "hot topic" tag on it since that's what's in the rules of engagement. If you think it's not hot enough for you, say something. Just be civil.

All - I think we were going through a waiting out period to see how the civility poll ended.

I'm not looking to censor, just provide a place for civil conversation among people with a common background. I've received too many private emails pleading for me to do something about the rowdy behavior of a few. If one were to compare this board to someplace, I'd rather have it like "Cheers" than the motorcycle bar down the block.

So yes, I do take this seriously and would like this site to be available for former MC'ers for years to come. There are plenty of other places on the net to have rough and tumble shout-outs. For anyone new who stops by, this would seem like a less inviting place if they only see a few duking it out in the forum.

I tried to contact the original webguy through this website & when I click on his name (i.e. TonyCasamento69), it says this user has been deleted.

Has he been banned?

No. I presume that Tony has deleted that account from here.  He still gets instant updates on all postings to the forums, but apparently has chosen not to participate anymore.

Wonder when that decision was made and why.

That's the difference between you and me. I don't presume to speak for other people. I don't present myself as knowing what I don't. Supposition on your part does not make it reality.  Just keep on keeping it personal, it let's me know you care. Love, Bill

I have never met a man so ignorant that I couldn't learn something from him.

Happened to see this at the bottom of the page after my last post. Another teachable moment.
