Should one succumb to base reactionary impulses, this may be helpful.

     Great backround while composing posts.
Whether one does so another matter entirely.

Due to numerous private comments I've received, I've locked the top political thread. I think it's time to move beyond politics specifically - to general discussions about life at Mater Christi. There are numerous social media opportunities to have political discussions, so I don't think that this will have a huge impact here. Famous last words, I know.

Numerous? There have been only about three posters in the last month. And only a half dozen or so have posted in the quarter.

Since you shut down the thread right after I posted an answer to Bill's question form some time back, I guess I'm the catalyst. But if only a half dozen or so are active on the sight and I doubt any of those complained, I rally wonder what, for you constitutes NUMEROUS?

More than a dozen, but less than a hundred. With the increased interest in MC due to Facebook, the site has actually had much more traffic than it did a year ago. I've been getting regular private messages about the direction of the discussion board, and I do agree that this little corner of the internet should be for all things Mater Christi. A little banter now and then sprinkled in with where is so & so is fine. But that is not what this has turned out to be.

More than a dozen within hours of my post? Highly dubious to be polite.

I'd suspect any increase in traffic results from people viewing thier yearbooks. Effectively, the message board is dead and has been for some time.

I totally agree with John. I check this site & message board on a regular basis. For all intents and purposes, it has been dead for at least two years. I can go months w/o seeing a new post. Many people who used to post in the past haven't done so in years.

BTW, this message board was much more political 5 or 10 years ago.

No doubt that the message board has been dying for a long time. But the reason that many people left this message board was because of the extreme politics and personal disagreements that flared up regularly.

People who have recently found materchristi.com are usually on Facebook already, and it's a more pleasant experience there. I'd like to continue that pleasant experience here.
