At the reunion several people mentioned the time capsule that was buried in the 70-71 era. It was supposed to be opened in 25? years but they were unable to find it. Does anyone have any information about it or perhaps info from an old issue of the Cresentower? It might be fun if it could be found and opened.

It's probably right next to the one from my class. I don't think they found ours either!

I found it Bob... it was in my basement behind a big box of bell bottom pants and naru jackets!

I was there when it was buried, and taped it for WKVC TV. It was buried behind where the old marble sign was located; down the center path in front of the building. I think the sign is gone now.

The hole was probably about 8 feet deep, so it's not that far underground. If the barrel hasn't rusted away, a good metal detector should find it.

I might be wrong, but I seem to recall the classes of '65 and '66 also buried a similar capsule in '65.... I don't have the slightest idea where it was buried...Perhaps Brother Benedict Norton might remember where it is, since he was Assistant Principal at that time... Perhaps Brother Joe might ask him???..... KJF'66.

Tom,

I was there for the burial as well. There was a thread about this way back when matercrhisti.com first started up. Normon Provost was also on the scene taking pictures and there are photos of the burial as well and they are probably somewhere in the stack of negatives Web Guy has. The metal detector might be the best option but it's going to take someone to step forward and find it. I don't think that St. John's has it up there as a priority.

I just realized something.....Is it possible that there might be several time capsules buried around the school property?....Since Mater Christi was Mater Christi for about 20 years, I wouldn't be surprised if there are a few capsules buried there....I wonder if the Alumni Office  might have information on this?.....KJF'66.

Maybe we'll locate Jimmy Hoffa while we're at it. . .

Just keep in mind the school is built on the grounds of a century old mental institution ....... there might be quite a bit of stuff buried around there besides our time capsules..... by the way did they bury the gator suit ??? I recently saw a "wally Gator" cartoon on Nick at night ..... sure looked like the model for our gator !!!!
