Sporadically here we have exchanges about the bias of the MSM. But now I don't see how anyone can deny the overwhelming liberal bias, not only in the editorial area, but also in the supposed objective NEWS.

How else can anyone explain why no negative comment has been made of the relief efforts in Haiti. Every bit as confused and delayed as it was after Katrina. (And there has been 7 years to apply the lessons of Katrina.) I'm not saying condemnation is deserved in either case as both were disasters of Biblical proportion. But only President Bush was chastised.

The "Christmas Bomber" has exposed gross negligence and incompetence in the highest levels of this administration. Obvious lies by senior intelligence staff, including Obama have gone unchallenged. Ridiculous almost comical statements by others are barley reported.

Daily the settled science of global warming is revealed as politician chicanery, but very little is reported. Yesterday the head of the UN's IPCC admitted they knowingly used unverified "data" for political reasons. Big news? Little coverage!

Can anybody explain why, if not bias, hasn't these events received attention?

And could you imagine had President Bush made a claim that by being offensive against terrorists in Iraq he has save 383,692 US civilians lives. Or that President Clinton was responsible for the Iraq War? Yet the claim would be certainly as supportable as Obama's having saved or created jobs. (A few thousand to over two million depending on who in the administration is speaking about the actual net loss of 7,000,000.) And by Obama's claim that every ill in the country is the result of what he inherited, then certainly Clintons action led us to Iraq. And by Obama standards of time and responsibilities, President Clinton is clearly and SINGULARLY responsible for 911

While I usually stay out of these things, I have to say that these and other reports I see every day are clearly biased toward supporting the current administration.  This is not always a bad thing, but it is partisan and would not have occurred if McCain were president.

I got a real chuckle out of seeing Sean Penn in Haiti, praising the US military.  Don't get me wrong; he was correct to praise them, but he wouldn't have been praising them if GWB was still president.  Funny thing:  he was talking to Jerry Rivers (Geraldo Rivera) on Fox!

I was going to post this under 'Interesting Items', but since I started a media thread, I guess it belongs here?  Also these are the only guys who gave any real coverage to the Christmas Bomber screw ups, and to the global warming blatant distortions and lies mentioned above. (That probably explains the results here)

Interesting quote from the article.

“A generation ago you would have expected Americans to place their trust in the most neutral and unbiased conveyors of news,” said PPP President Dean Debnam in his analysis of the poll. “But the media landscape has really changed, and now they’re turning more toward the outlets that tell them what they want to hear.”

Nobody wants to hear varying opinions anymore. They just want to hear reinforcement that what they already believe is correct. Another indicator of the polarization which has simply become the norm.

"believe is correct" is a big difference from 'what is really true'. In other words, if your belief is a lie am I obligated to listen to it?

Guess I'll keep my current tag line a few more weeks.

The solution is relatively simple.  I am a newsaholic, and I regularly watch both CNN and FOX (and of course Squawkbox), and catch the NBC nightly news with Brian Williams about 3 days per week.  I spot lots of bias in all three, but I believe that I've got it figured out and have a pretty good idea of what is going on.

One of my college student daughter's liberal friends laughed when he saw me watching FOX.  I figure that he's the ignorant one.

By way of print, I read the Sunday New York Times and Reason magazine (libertarian).  But for the real news I read the New London Day, where I learn which of my neighbors has been arrested.  (Actually, the New London Day is quite good for national and international news.)

NBC was celebrating Black History Month by serving a FRIED CHICKEN SPECIAL in their cafeteria.

Thank God this HONOR was bestowed by sensitive libs (see "Obama the Magic Negro", "...light skinned....with no negro dialect...", "...I totally almost forgot Obama was black...", even "typical white person" for other 'sensitive' observations). Imagine the uproar had those obsessed with race at FOX offered that special?

So I guess this means no more corned beef and cabbage to be served on St. Patty's Day or spaghetti and SAUCE for Columbus Day?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

NBC has removed the sign from the cafeteria and apologized if it offended anyone.

The chef, Leslie Calhoun -- who is black -- said she has been trying to institute a special Black History Month menu for years and was allowed to do so for the first time this year. She said doesn't understand the controversy.

"I don't understand at all," she told NBC partner site TheGrio. "It's not trying to offend anybody and it's not trying to suggest that that's all that African-Americans eat. It's just a good meal. I thought it would go over well."

I repeat, "Imagine the uproar had those obsessed with race at FOX offered that special?" Well supposedly so obsessed according to many on the left.

It's not that I condemn or even question the culpability or validity of the actions or remarks, except Obie's 'typical white people" which is gratuitously racist, but the hypocrisy in the condemnations, or lack there of, by the MSM that I find instructive

Corned Beef and Cabbage or Spaghetti with either sauce OR gravy aside, does this suggest no more Rice and Beans on Puerto Rican Day?  Or, does that fit a different topic, due to not being Black or White enough?

This seems MSM's idea of fair and balanced reporting.

I guess I missed the MSM's coverage of Obama yesterday having nominated Scott Matheson to the US Court of Appeals. Scott is the brother of Rep. Jim Matheson who had voted twice against the gov't take over of health-care. Interesting timing in that Rep Matherson is one of the ten Dem Reps Obama had at the White House last night in an effort to get them to change their vote.

I sure an investigation of this potential attempt to buy Matherson's vote will follow once the MSM completes their coverage of this administration offering Rep Sestak a Federal job (most likely Sec of the Navy) to drop out of the Pennsylvania primary. Haven't heard much about that in the last three weeks?

 Hope and Change, Chicago style!

Mule - Check this out.

Curtis &Leroy saw an ad in the Starkville Daily News Newspaper in Starkville, MS. and bought a mule for $100.
The farmer agreed to deliver the mule the next day.
The next morning the farmer drove up and said, "Sorry, fellows, I have some bad news, the mule died last night."

Curtis &Leroy replied, "Well, then just give us our money back."

The farmer said, "Can't do that. I went and spent it already."

They said, "OK then, just bring us the dead mule.."

The farmer asked, "What in the world ya'll gonna do with a dead mule?"

Curtis said, "We gonna raffle him off."

The farmer said, "You can't raffle off a dead mule!"

Leroy said, "We shore can!  Heck, we don't hafta tell nobody he's dead!"

A couple of weeks later, the farmer ran into Curtis &Leroy at the local Piggly Wiggly grocery store and asked:
"What'd you fellers ever do
 with that dead mule?"
They said,"We raffled him
off like we said we wuz gonna do."

Leroy said,"Shucks, we sold 500 tickets fer two dollars apiece and made a profit of $898."

The farmer said,"My Lord, didn't anyone complain?"

Curtis said, "Well, the feller who won got upset. So we gave him his two dollars back."

Curtis and Leroy now work for the government.

They're overseeing the Bailout Program.

Limit all US politicians to two terms!
One in office
One in prison
Illinois already does this!
