You see, soon, none of this will matter as we keep going deeper an' deeper into debt. Retirement age will rise. Healthcare will be rationed. Interest rates will rise. Freedom will be lost to an ever increasing taxing and nanny state. Unfunded US liabilities over 109 TRILLION Aaaaaahahahahahhaha!  http://www.usdebtclock.org/

Republican Hypocrisy on the Deficit and Healthcare

Boy, to hear many Republicans tell it they have been the watchdogs of fiscal responsibility. They try to say our country is spending too much and we cannot afford Universal Healthcare. Of course, they conviently leave out the facts about why our deficit is where it is right now.
When President Bush took over control of the White House with a Republican Congress they inherited the largest surplus ever in American History and preceded to pick it clean:

President Clinton ran a unified budget surplus of $236 billion, the largest surplus in American history.  Budget surpluses were expected to continue for another ten years when President Bush took office in January 2001.  But under the Republican's watch, the federal budget plunged back into deficit, reaching record levels.  By 2002, the unified federal budget had returned to a deficit of $160 billion and this year, President Obama inherited a record deficit of $1.3 trillion.

http://dpc.senate.gov/dpcdoc.c...

Republican hypocrites were mysteriously mum as George W. Bush and the Republican Congress raised the debt limit seven times and doubled our national debt:

Republicans presided over the largest explosion of debt in our nation's history.  During his time in office, President Bush requested that Congress increase the statutory debt limit seven times.  The day before George W. Bush assumed the presidency in 2001, the public debt was $5.7 trillion.  On the last day of President Bush's presidency in 2009, the public debt stood at $10.6 trillion, approximately $35,000 for every man, woman, and child in America.

And for all their railing about unemployment and the Obama stimulus, they caused all the problems Democrats must fix:

Not only did President Obama inherit the dismal fiscal situation created by the Republican Deficit, he also inherited a country facing very dire economic conditions.  Economic growth declined dramatically from the third quarter of 2008, when there was a negative one-half of one percent of growth, to the fourth quarter of 2008, when the economy contracted at a rate of over six percent.

The facts of the matter are irrefutable. The Republicans took a budget deficit and surplus and proceeded to pick it apart. They whimpered not in protest as Republican lawmakers wasted money on a series of failed initiatives that ultimately crashed our economy. They cared not one iota about debt or deficits until President Obama took office and was force to take desperate measures to head off an impending depression caused by Republican policies of War and Corporate Welfare.

It's sometimes hard to remember that when President Clinton left office in January 2001, the federal budget actually was in surplus. Yet by the time President Bush left town, the federal government was running a nearly a $1 trillion deficit thanks to spending on the wars on Iraq and Afghanistan, the bank bailout and increased spending on prescription drug coverage for Medicare beneficiaries.

But the Republican deficit hawks didn't really start squawking about government spending until President Obama took office and proposed a $700 billion stimulus package for the ailing economy.

You see, the Republicans actually WANTED to run huge budget deficits and raise taxes on working Americans. They envisioned a time when America would get serious about taking care of it's citizens with things like universal healthcare and hoped by raising taxes on the working class and cutting them on the very rich coupled with running huge deficits they could convince Americans that they could not afford to fund programs that are desperately needed. It was a slick, but particularly vile and disgusting tactic that has at least partially worked. Just look at the healthcare protesters and Tea-baggers. Where were they when the real culprits were robbing the till?? They were mum.

http://blogs.reuters.com/comme...

What is particularly sad is that millions of Americans have bought into their hypocrisy and hatred as evidenced in the current townhalls. If they only knew what they were screaming about....

The thing is Mike, numbers don't lie. Quote all the history you want. 109 trillion is still 109 trillion an' someone's got to come up with the dough. Someone's gonna call our debt. You see now how it influences our foreign policy an' how we "make nice" with the Chinese. North Koreans can sink the whole South Korean Navy an not a thing will be done.
The system had been working well for the first 180 years or so but now we've got some really rotten people in there an' they have to be voted out!
In addition, looking at the Debt Clock, look at the state debt. Who do you think will be bailing them out?

lapoce, I imagine your very proud of the chart you posted on the Friends Of Obama Thread. Why it’s there I haven’t a clue? And even less of a idea why you addressed me posting it? But since Terry is discussing spending on this thread, and you’re being you, I thought I’d explain a little to you about spending here.

I’m sure you’re very impressed with the chat you posted, what with the pretty colors and all. But if the purpose of that chart is to imply that Republican presidents are mostly responsible for the debt situation, it just show your ignorance of the facts. We know the good brothers failed with you in your development morally, your irrefutable bigotry attest to that. It now appears that the brothers failed also in your basic education, certainly in the field of Civics.

Had you even a rudimentary understanding of the workings of our government you’d know that Congress has responsibility for spending. {A budget can be passed without the president’s approval, but not without the Congress’.} During the last 36 year, the period of your chart plus last year and this, the Republicans held the House for a total of 12; only 1/3 of the time. And only the first 6 years of President G.W. Bush did they hold both the White House and the House of Representative. Neither Presidents Ford, Reagan, nor G.H.W. Bush ever had control of the House. Carter, Clinton, and Obama have presided over Democrat majorities in the House. It’s worth noting that under Clinton the deficit fell most dramatically under the Republican Congress as promised in the Contract With America. (Funny how so many people try to give credit to Clinton for what Gingrich achieved? I noticed that's in your cut and paste above, typical of a drone.) Under G.W. Bush the deficit rose sharply in 02’, greatly resulting from spending necessitated after 911including the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, then the deficits leveled off, until the Democrats took control of the House in 06’. By 08’ the deficit exploded in 08‘. The deficit has increased so in creditably that the ceiling approved by the Democrats only 5 months ago of $14,300,000,000,000 is now expected to be exceeded in the third quarter of THIS YEAR. So don’t expect any serious budget proposal before the election. The Dems will try to keep this hidden until after November. Sort of how Berwick was kept in the closet until Congress was in recess. No questions for him about redistribution or socialized medicine.

We should have know when Obie promised TRANSPARENCY what he meant was secrecy. Just as ,‘will save money’, in referring to Obamacare, now clearly meant ‘will costs us all a fortune’; “No tax increase for the middle class” really meant “bend over”, “stimulus” meant ‘pork’, “8% unemployment” really means 18%, ‘recovering’ means collasping, and “focused as a laser” on the Gulf meant, “tee it up”! Basically this administration has lied about EVERYTHING. (I’ll again ask can anyone give any example where these incompetents have been consistent or correct on anything?)

But to get back on topic THE MEDIA. Here is an example a MISADVENTURE these Chicago thugs tried to perpetrate on the media. The decision was resinded
yesterday.

Talk about misadventure by the media, and bias too! To reasonable people the left wing bias has to be by now crystal clear!

Only Obama and Pelosi could put together a team to investigate an oil drilling disaster and not think to include a single petroleum engineer. We're guessing their "report" will recommend higher taxes, less drilling and a few new government agencies.

Birds of a feather?

Somehow the MSM missed this story? And it's much more then just typical 'jfk' like stolen valor.

You got to admit it though, jfk really knows how to pick em.  This guy, John Edwards, the traitor himself, what an administration that would have been. Possibly even more miscreants then the current administration?
