I remember people and times back in '60's who were always on the wrong side of the school's rules. Some were considered cut-ups that made some of those very boring classes tolerable. Some of the infamous brothers were all too happy to take their heads off as they considered this behavior intolerable. But the same people have grown into responsible, mature adults. Just look at their posts. Some have made the ultimate change and passed on. I do not feel I have the right to name any of these former classmates, but only to say the harshness used on these classmates did not hurt their development in spite of it.

I guess I must be slow.  I did exactly what you suggested (before you suggested it), and found no name.  I was just curious about who in my graduating class was posting.

I was quite well behaved.  Only got hit in the face by a brother once.  Did not deserve it.  I had the good sense not to hit him back, although he deserved it.

Hi Bill,
When I click on it, I'm able to see the name in the profile. Maybe it's a security setting related to my moderator status. WebGuy can you clarify?

I was in 3rd grade in St Sebastian's and was caught talking in the dismissal line ( not a fire drill ) by Sister Maria  Grazia  she had warned us that total silence was mandatory. The line was waiting at the top of the stairs for a class from above to clear the stairwell , I said something to the kid next to me and she was right there. Slapped me across the face so hard that I still had finger impressions on my cheek when I arrived home. My dad asked what happened and I told him that I was slapped for talking in line . Thought I was going to get a little sympathy ? Got a matching slap on the other cheek for disobeying and making "that religious woman" discipline me. I was also made to apologize after lunch for talking in line .

All St. Teresa Students:

We all know or had the misfortune to have Sister Ann Eileen in 8th grade.  She was a sadistic SOB (sorry Bro Joe)..At a reunion a few years back at St. T's a former student of hers HAD to go up to her and clear the air.  She remembered him and he stated that what she had done to us was just plain child abuse.  She just nodded in agreement...Did she know as she matured???

I would like to think that she finally achieved enlightenment and repented.  Likely true.

I'll never forget the sight of you hanging from the ceiling lights by your thumbs.  And all of us having to do the pinata thing with barbed wire.  But the cattle prod between your cheeks: Even then I thought that was over the top.  All while masticating soap.

There is nothing like a private school education.
