Jim Kavanagh, Social Studies teacher in the first years of Mater Christi died peacefully Sunday in his daughter's presence in Cornwall, NY.  He had succumbed to a a recurrent cancer.  The wake was Tuesday and the Mass today at 10 a.m. at St. Thomas of Canterbury with burial to follow in the Parish cemetery.  Jim lloked surprisingly good at a recent Memorial Mass for Deceased Brothers at Manhattan College.  He had attended the Brothers Juniorate in Barrytown, NY - with my Novitiate  classmates and began teaching later at Mater Christi.

Kev,
Jim went only to the HS(Juniorate) in Barrytown and did not enter the Novitiate; he was not a Bro.  He was a regular member of the group of fmr Bros called 'Signum Fidei' - on whose website I found this news.

I remember Mr. Kavanaugh well - I was in the first graduating class and he was my sophomore year social studies teacher - I had Brother Stephen as a freshman.  I am sorry to hear of his passing and pray for the peaceful repose of his soul!
