To The Board:

I apologize beforehand for writing this....99& 9/10ths of us are intelligent enough to understand...this is addressed to the small handful that aren't.

I have been in constant contact with Jeanne PRIVATELY since my return Saturday morning.  In fact I've spent most of Saturday on this very sad problem.

Certain things Jeanne has shared with me privately & others I have uncovered on my own.

At this point in time, I absolutely refuse to reveal anything of a very personal nature related to this situation.

Certain posts were made for very specific reasons.  If one is ASSuming they know everything & have decided to make disparaging remarks, may I make a very helpful suggestion...After one finishes doing the breakfast dishes, I strongly suggest they continue on their obvious Rocky Mountain High.

Have A Lovely Day

Having been off visiting the grand kids this weekend, I've been away from the board.  First order of business is to wish ALL the birthday folks a belated Happy Birthday.  For some, a celebration of earning senior discounts.  While for others, the anniversary of their twenty-ninth, for the twenty-sixth time or so.

One advantage of marrying an older woman is having been the owner of my AARP card for the last eight years!  It was fun using it for a discount then, but not too many surprised looks anymore.  I'll hit the big FIVE-0 in January, but in actuality, will remain twenty-five forever.  You say a mind is a terrible thing to waste and I say a waist is a terrible thing to mind.

For Jeanne, I too have been in touch with and offered ideas to her over this matter.  This for having been through a similar situation some years ago.  While I agree with Tony's position, I also believe that any of us should be able to reach out to our brother and sister alumni for help.  Maybe make the initial request on the board and then have all further contacts done privately.  I did make some private inquiries to a couple of our members and was found out we were on the same page as to the thoughts shared.  I also contacted a friend associated with Suffolk County and was assured they have the latest technology available to them and will do a thorough job.

Fiinally, I am glad to report I was not the person banned.  While some may regret this, I'm glad because I too have made some new friends here.  Good people all.   Tony, you are doing the toughest job of all with some of your decisions for the board's success.  Godspeed my friend and keep up the good work.

Web Guy,

My compliments on all you do to administer/moderate this site!

Were it not for this site, I would not have reconnected with some MPB 1967 classmates who were Mater Christi 1971 ... such as Kathleen O'Connor, Esther Bluett, Maria Restivo and Kevin Brutting.

Likewise, were it not for your site, I would not have made the acquaintance of P J McKenna 1969 whose knowledge of CHSAA basketball exceeds mine, and who (like me) appreciates the NYC high school game and those who played/coached it well, regardless of whose uniform they wore.

A former resident of Astoria, but an alumni of the school whose subway station is Van Wyck Boulevard (E train) rather than Ditmars Boulevard (RR train) ...

I graduated from Molloy in 1971. Many of my Most Precious Blood parish school classmates went to Mater Christi.

I believe Stella Maris is Latin for "Star of the Sea" or "Star of the Ocean." Correct me if I am wrong ... SMHS was (is) a relatively smaller school, all girls, in the Rockaway Beach area, right?

That makes us and Terence Tuffy (LaSalle 1969) among the small number of non-Gators here.

Lynda / Novamom: such a child!! Happy Belated Birthday!!  I got you beat by nearly 10 months!!  My last birthday in the 50's coming up too soon, late August....

JackD: did you know either of my two brothers, John or Tim?  I'm not sure of their class years, but I'm thinking they were a year or two after you -- John is 17mos. older and was a year ahead of Tim at AMHS.

Clem,

I looked in Molloy's online alumni directory ... the only Tim Johnson listed is class of 1978 ... there was also a John Johnson, class of 1978 ... the only other John Johnson's listed were class of 1993 and class of 1996.

I did not know either of them ... they would have entered after I graduated.

How come they went to Molloy instead of MC like you?

I remember my 4 choices on the Cooperative Entrance Examination we all took in the 8th grade: Molloy 1, Regis 2, McClancy 3,  Mater Christi 4.  Now that I think about it, McClancy would have been the hardest school to travel to from my house, requiring a combination of bus and subway.

Dear Jack,

Yes, you , Terrence and I are all outsiders. I heard about this website from some friends of mine who went to Mater Christi but rarely post . I enjoy the banter. I know a few people from the real world like FXOC and I indirectly know Terrence through his brother Whitey who I know of through FXOC.

I grew up in Richmond Hill and many people in my neighborhood went to Molloy but I graduated from Stella Maris in 1967 and graduated from St John's in 1971 . My friends and I would not really have been interested in high school boys at that time,so I doubt if I have any mutual friends although I think the Heaney's who lived across the street from me and were younger may have gone to Molloy around that time.

Stella Maris does indeed mean Star of the Sea but I wonder what our mascot was? Well talk to you later - take care.

Pat T
