Dear Guest Book Lady,

Thank you so much for finding that website . That is so funny - Flipper /Dolphin is our mascot - that must have happened after I left - I would have definately remembered a dolphin being the mascot.

Terrence,

Thanks for all the mascot ideas - you were very close with the tuna - the starfish was also very nice- thanks .

I did not know either of them ... they would have entered after I graduated.

How come they went to Molloy instead of MC like you?

I remember my 4 choices on the Cooperative Entrance Examination we all took in the 8th grade: Molloy 1, Regis 2, McClancy 3,  Mater Christi 4.  Now that I think about it, McClancy would have been the hardest school to travel to from my house, requiring a combination of bus and subway.

Jack D

My choices were "Diocesan," Regis, Power, Xavier.  MC was not even open when we had to choose, and others (CtK, etc) were not yet started under construction.  I chose in that order since I am the oldest of 6 kids, and my dad could not afford the other schools unless I got scholarships, which I came near doing in math and other scholarly things, like science.  We could not choose a specific Diocesan school, it was assigned, I had no idea where Crescent Street or even Ditmars Blvd. was when I graduated from St. Catherine of Sienna.   John and Tim were the last of the 6 of us, and my dad was doing much better financialy by then, besides no longer having to support all 6 of us, so they got to go to Malloy.  Since they then lived in Forest Hills, it was a lot easier for them than my trip from Springfield Gardens to Astoria!

Stella Maris, being an all girls school, you'd think they would have a mascot from say... "The Blue Lagoon "

Terrence:

But YOU have an autographed picture of him??????  And that image has stayed with you, all these years. Mr. O'Connor, I concur.

We're not talking about that on this thread. Don't like it? I'll take it off. The message board I mean.

Dear Terrance ,

That is a rather risque shoot - I am positive the nuns would not approve- they became enraged if we wore a boy's ring around our neck on a chain, or hiked our skirts above our knees, or forgot to decrumb our table after lunch in the cafeteria. In addition they disliked it when our "common friends" waited outside the school on a Friday afternoon to pick us up.

Getting back to the picture I think I saw that guy in Fitzgerald's a few times .

Later,

Pat T
